Varying virus spread, Europe launched mass vaccination
More than a dozen countries have found people infected with the mutated new coronavirus, including France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden other European countries, as well as Japan and Lebanon.
Europe launched a large-scale vaccination campaign on Sunday, with retirees and medical staff first vaccinated to stop the epidemic. The new crown has paralysed the economy, killing more than 1.7 million people worldwide.
“Thank God ,” said Araceli Hidalgo 96-year-old woman, who was the first to be vaccinated in Spain.
“See if we can make the virus disappear .”
Italy is the first country in Europe to have a large-scale new coronavirus infection, and its 29-year-old nurse is Claudia Alivernini one of three health care workers at the top of the waiting list. A vaccine was developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
This is the beginning of the end… “An exciting, historic moment ,” she said at the Rome Spallanzani Hospital.
By the end of this year, the EU will receive 12.5 million doses, enough to vaccinate 6.25 million people on two doses per person. These companies are scrambling to meet global demand and plan to produce 1.3 billion doses next year.
The EU, in addition to Pfizer, has signed contracts with other pharmaceutical companies, including Moderna and AstraZeneca (AstraZeneca), for a total of more than 2 billion doses of vaccines and set targets for all adults to be vaccinated during 2021.
The survey shows that countries from France to Poland are very hesitant about the vaccine, and the leaders of the EU countries are promoting the vaccine, which is the best opportunity to return to normal life next year.
We have new weapons against the virus: vaccines. We must remain steadfast again ,” said French President Mark Longfait. He tested positive for the new crown this month and was released on Christmas Eve.
